Diesel engine replace?
I have a mazda 6 2007 turbo diesel. The engine is no longer functioning. Our diesel mechanic has suggested that the engine needs replacing. (He does not think it is worth repairing, he suspects that the repairs would cost more than just replacing the engine).
Would you think it is worth replacing with a second hand engine? Or are we just throwing away money if we do that? Myself and my husband are not huge car enthusiasts so don't know the ins and outs of wverything mechanical. My husband has done the oil change once or twice, that's about the extent of our car knowledge.
any thoughts?

So we took it to our diesel mechanic with a noise, we weren't sure what was up, but needed the dpf replaced. Mechanic rang me at around 12 and said he just tried to start the car and it wouldn't start, and said he thought it was the engine. He then spent the rest of his day trying to get it working, but couldn't. Car would not start .engine just not functioning. I am not at home at the moment, but there would be a report at home from the mechanic.... i didn't particularly look at it because it would mean nothing to me!
