Default Brake ducting?

First off, I'm new to the forum so forgive me if this topic has already been covered. I love my '05 6s 5 door, it's a decided improvement over my oldJeep and it performs wonderfully...there's allways room for improvement though, right?XD

Now then, one of the mods I've been toying around with in my head iscreating ducts that channels air through the area of the front bumper where the lower fog lights would be placed in order to help with cooling the front brakes. I am well aware that the inserts in there now are solid and therefore do not allow air to pass through them. My questions for y'all are;
1. Has anyone heard of someone doing something like this before? If so any help I can get in pulling this mod off would be much apreciated.
2.Where would I get new inserts for the bumper that will look stock (I would rather keep my car something of a sleeper), but will still allow air to pass through them?
3. Does anyone know if this is a mod I'll be able to do my self, or is this something I'm gonna have to have a shop do for me?

I'm surprised that no one else commented on this idea. This is one of the most original ideas I've heard of so far for the 6. Let me know if you do this because I'd be interested in doing it to my 6S.

What i suggest you do is make the mod yourself. Id get a dremel and cut out the inserts. Then get some type of sanding tool to grind down the shereded edges. Sand paper, File, grinder tool on the dremel. You would have to be very patient and very careful, but you can pull it off. I never heard of mods you can buy like this so its probably a do it yourself project. Good luck

What about buying the fog light inserts and starting with those, rather than drilling out all those little bitty holes and such. Does anyone who owns a set have any idea how dificult it would be to remove the light from that and attach some sort of piping from the back of that to inside the wheel well? I don't have access to a dremel, and I can see drilling out those stock inserts going very badly. Also seeing as how the fog lenses are round to start with it would make it much easier to improvise ducting (if it's possible to gut the assembly that is). Thanks for y'all advice so far, I'm looking forward seeing what y'all have to say about this.

It would probably be very easy to buy some fog light holders without the light but what are you going to do with wheel well. If you cut holes in it you are going to get alot of dust and dirt in the engine compartment. Good luck

Hmm, defenitely something to consider. I wonder if I could rig up some kind of dust shield on the back side of the rotor kinda like what is on the back brakes. Thanks for pointing that out, I probably wouldn't have thought about it until the problem arose.

No problem. If you get it to work out let me know what you did.
