Battery
I have an 06 Mazda6S and my battery may be dead (I haven't measured the output yet). Last night, one of our valet attendants tells me that the car wont start and that the battery seems to be the issue. So we go down into the gararge, jump start the car and I drive it out of the garage and parked it outside until I finished my shift. Before going back inside, I opened the hood and noticed that the (-) terminal needed cleaning so I did that and tried to start the car again. Nothing - the lights and accessories work though. I get another jump as I'm leaving work for the drive home (approx. 30 miles) hoping that maybe the alternator just needed some time to charge the battery. This morning, it's dead again. Being that the car is not that old, do you think that this may more likely be a problem with the alternator?
Haveyou checked the water level?
In spiteof the fact that they callthese mainentance-free batteries, I discovered after 2 years mine was pretty low on water. I topped it off w/ur basic distilled and no problems since.
However, if you are showing plates by now, the battery may be fried. Exposed plates are a sure sign of battery troubles.
Also, modern batteries do have a tendency to not give any, or much warning before they die.
I'd go w/that before getting into the alternator.
have you taken your car in to have the fan switch (the recall) replaced? I had a similar problem, replaced one battery - then within a couple months, had to have it replaced again (the battery was under warranty thank goodness) - but the culprit that was destoying the battery was the fan switch - I was amazed at how great my car ran after taking it in - the fan previously had been running loud, and would continue to run after the car was turned off. I didn't even realize how loud it ran until I got it fixed.
Mybe I should ge that looked into; I've had the car for a year now without any trouble. Nevertheless, I changed the battery last night and she's running but now I'm having issues with the windows. I can control three of the four windows from the driver's side, but I have to reach over to open and close the front passenger window. Also, I have the hold the button all the way to put them up and they don't go down automatically with the key FOB anymore. Did I fry something? Other than that (and the expected need to reset the clock and radio pre-sets), the car runs normally.
