Default Armrest Centre console 12v outlet & AUX input not working (Mazda 6 mk2 2008)

Hi there,

Please forgive me if it is posted in the wrong place!

So I have just acquired an old 2008 Mazda 6 Sport 2.5 & neither the centre console 12v outlet or the AUX input next to it seem to work. I suspected they might have a common fuse, so checked both the cigar & outlet 15A fuses in the inside fuse box & they both look fine (I actually dropped one of them down the gap when trying to push it back in so replaced with the spare 15A!, so 50% chance that was the armrest one!). What's odd is that when I press the "Media" button on the Bose head unit, nothing happens - no beep or anything? I suspected the source may need to be live/active for it to recognise an input, but it doesn't seem to. Note that I have tested my input on my wife's Mazda 3's AUX, so I know the 3.5mm cable etc. works fine.

I popped out the AUX socket & ordered a replacement from eBay for £10, which is described as tested & working. I also watched a vid on YouTube where someone says this is common & you need to short pins 1 & 8 or 1 & 5, which I tried but no joy.

My main question is, is there a common reason why they both don't work & if not, what could be the cause of the problems individually? I am due to try the replacement AUX socket in the next day or 2 when it arrives, but I don't suspect it will work (& even if it does, it still leaves the question of the 12v socket!). Also note that the other 12v socket is fine & the Bose head unit seems to work OK otherwise, as does the Bluetooth (which annoyingly seems to be phone only on this model, whereas on my previous 3 Sport & my wife's 3, its phone & audio).

Any help would be appreciated! Many thanks.

Ash

Go thru both interior & engine bay fuse boxes, check all your fuses.

Thanks for coming back to me. It turned out in the end that it was the connector under the centre console trim where the handbrake is. It had come loose.
