Post 2014 Mazda 6 - remove rear bumper cover

Here are steps after getting trunk furnishings and liner out of the way.

(Got new, painted bumper cover shipped from MBI Auto. Nice job! All the steps below need to be done twice, once on each side of the car.)

Disconnect taillight from three cables. Innermost socket can be rotated counterclockwise and pulled. Middle and outside: depress clips and pull. Used a small, flat screwdriver on one.

Loosen 10mm nuts to remove taillight. Taillight is mounted to body by sliding it forward. There's a slot on underside (hidden side) of taillight and a post on the body. To remove taillight from body, slide toward rear of car.

Remove round, body-color painted, bolt-head cover from edge of trunk opening.

Remove 8mm bolt near 2 o'clock position (on lefthand side of car) inside wheel well. And remove compression plug nearby.

Unclip wheel well (black plastic) from bumper cover by pushing inboard on wheel well.

On underside of bumper cover, rear of wheel, remove two 8mm bolts.

Remove compression plug inboard of exhaust pipes.

Remove Phillips screw which was under taillight. And remove other Phillips screw below.

Remove Phillips/8mm bolt to rear of wheel. When you do that, bumper cover may fall off car.

Remove reflector from bumper cover by compressing tab. This is on backside of bumper cover.

Remove screw holding hinged/folded piece in place. This is on backside of bumper cover, near middle.

Remove two gray screw seats from side/underside of bumper cover.
