Hi, Wondering if anyone has had a 2.2 diesel SH motor rebuilt and kept it?

Ours is currently with Mazda and soon to be rebuilt after low oil pressure. I know these are bad motors but has anyone had a rebuild and kept the car with any issues?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Define "rebuild" Mazda doesn't re-build SH engines. Its either a clean out or replacement.

 

I asked today what it was and they said partial rebuild. Asked for the parts list that is 3 1/2 pages long and they said they will give it to me at the end of the build.
Won't give us a loan car even though it will be another 4 weeks.

Seems to me it will still be a ticking time bomb.....

 

Hit up Mazda Australia, they offer rental cars free of charge for these engine issues.

Sounds like you are getting a new short block ( Rocker cover to sump) All the exterior bits, including turbo will be swapped to the new engine,

 

Thank you for all the information. I will be calling Mazda Australia tomorrow to see weather I can change their mind. Bit disappointing as this is our 3rd Mazda (had a 2016 Mazda 6 sedan, Have a 2013 Mazda 3 for my wife) and the 2013 Mazda 6 wagon was for me.

Well definitely not what i was expecting. Seems to me it is just a clean out. Not very happy at all.

You got a brand new engine.

They swapped over everything else, including the old turbo's.

 

So does anyone know what they mean by: The part is the latest in the part number supersession.

If they mean super seeded, doesnt that mean it should be a redesign of the old motor?
