Hi - I am a new member to this amazing resource, and have a 2009 Mazda 6 with 110,000 km on the ODO - picked it up with 81,000 km and it has always had a sharp cracking noise on either side of the dashboard. Have had suspension checked and all good there. Heard that it may be the windshield wiper motor bolts coming loose and apparently is not uncommon ion Mazda 3 and 6. Welcome any comments please.

 

What are you doing when it cracks? Hot weather? Cold Weather? Driving / stationary? Turning? Braking?

Problem is when driving in any weather and hitting a minor bump or speed bump in a shopping centre. Loud cracking noise that seems to come from both sides of the car around the dash area, but loudest on the driver's side - presumably because that is where I am sitting.

Live in Brisbane Australia where we have hot and humid summers and very mild winters (never less than 50 degrees farenheit.

Welcome any suggestions.

 

More than likely its suspension related.

 

I hear noise too from a 2017 Cx5 while driving intermittently. Its coming from the center by the air control. I hear dashboard plastic assembly trying to settle or becoming loose.
