2007 Mazdaspeed 6 vs Mazda 6
awd will get you off of the line faster than any other drive train. i have a friend that races vr4 mitsubishis and he has a 91 eagle talon awd turbo that is completely street legal and runs off pump gas. he has that car in the high 11's in the 1/4. the front wheel drive version will top out at about 12.5 before you have to put slicks and octane boosters in it. not to metion that the work that you would have to do to the differential would make it hard to be a daily driver.
Now i have a mazda 6 s with a cold air intake, a tunabe exhaust system, and a custom 3" downpipe and i raced a mazdaspeed 6 and i made it my little bitch now just imagine if i added a turbocharger to my car. I would much rather have the mazda 6 s cuz of theV6 engine.AV6 engine with a turbocharger is much better than a4 CYL.witha turbochager.
I'm gonna raise the BS flag on this one man. First off, if you really do have a downpipe and no turbo, u just added weight and a part that goes absolutely nowhere, since a downpipe is the piece that comes off the back of a turbo and connects it to the rest of the exhaust system, N/A engines have no need for them as the exhaust system goes engine->headers->cat->resonator/muffler->exit. Second, cat-back exhausts on our car provide absolutely NO Hp gain whatsoever, they are purely a sound and cosmetic upgrade. A full stainless steel exhaust may save some weight, though, this would be it's only performance advantage. Lastly the CAI, as much as I love mine, will not give you enough of a hp advantage to make a speed 6 "your little bitch" as you so colorfuly put it. So, if you really did beat one then it was one of two senarios; a) he wasn't trying, or b)he didn't know what he was doing.
Now it may sound like I'm bashing the 6s here, but I'm not. I drive and auto-x one my self and absolutely love it. Also I agree with the statement that a 6cyl engine w/ a turbo that is properly tuned will be faster than a 4cyl in a similar state of tune. However nobody makes a turbo for our 3.0's yet so that is little more than a pipe dream at the moment.

i drove a mazda 6s 3.0 for 2 yrs.got 27 mpg and alot of fun. Now i have a speed6, getting 20 mpg if lucky, still having fun and even in the snow. The choice is yours. I hope to get better mileage after adding factory cold air intake.
