I just bought an automatic 2006 mazda 6 a couple of days ago and I have a question... kind of silly I just want to make sure everything is working properly! Anyway, I was wondering if the automatic transaxle controls (you know, the p r n d and m) are supposed to be illuminated at night with my lights turned on?

I've only driven two automatics, and only for a day a piece, but I am pretty sure the console had illumination for the selector. All console mounted autos I know of (and most column shifters too) from the '60's on do.

 

Yes they are supposed to. Mine currently don't but that's my own fault, forgot to plug the silly things back in after taking the dash apart last time :-/
