Default 2005 Mazda6 - Code P0340 - Running Poorly

Howdy all,

Seems a P0340 is something like a Cam Position Sensor issue or something.

My car runs poorly. When starting, revs high, then low, then high.....

When warmed it runs fine as long as I am on the gas. When I am on level grould and the gas really needs "feathered" it surges and hesitates. Kind of like it does not like to just send a little fuel out but either wants lots of fuel or no fuel.

Wondering if anyone else has seen this. Should I assume the sensor is bad and replace? Is that easy to do? Expensive?

Thanks in advance!
