08 Mazda 6 2.3l cold air intake
So I recently put in a DC Sports cold air intake in my 08 Mazda 6. The filter sits pretty low between the wheel and the bumper cover. I wasn't expecting it to fit so low. What can I do to guard it if I need to run the car thru a wash or drive in the rain? I heard to put one of those mesh covers on the filter, but also was told they don't work.

Ok well like I said it is not really a problem unless you drive through a deep puddle. As for that being a "COLD AIR INTAKE" not really. It has to long a pipe routed through the maze of parts, the pipe is uninsulated metal exposed to the radiated engine and under hood temperatures which will preheat the air before it get to the combustion chambers. You may see a slight decrease in IAT's on the highway but not be much and effecting little to improve anything. At WOT which is how companies like to post information about their CAI the air is moving at close to total CFM and high velocity rate so even a stock intake system which btw is engineered for the maximum engine out put @ designed engine speed and calculated cfm @ that engine speed will likely do almost the same as most claimed or advertised CAI offered on the market. Having a intake system with a higher CFM then the engine can generate is of no value or benefit and can not even be utilized.
What you really have there is a way to increase the sound level so you can better hear the sound of intake air going into your engine....... .
