Hey guys,

I have inherited a 2003 Mazda 6 - 2,3Sport from my father in law. Its an oldie but it doesnt have much milage on it, so the condition is great. However today I was checking the oil and fluids, after I was done I went to park the car and saw that the small red key-light-indicator on the dashboard was flashing slowly, about once every 2 seconds.

The car starts fine and the light goes away after starting it. But once its off, the lights starts flashing again. This did not happen before opening the hood, so I'm afraid something might have happened.

Any ideas what it means? The manual says nothing about the blinking for 2 seconds other than that the immobilizer checks the key when starting.

Completely normal.

It would've been flashing before you opened the bonnet, even before you got the vehicle. They always flash with the key off to warn thieves it has an immobilizer.

 

Thats good to hear, thanks for your reply! It's weird cause I could swear it didn't flash the light before this. The light looks like below.
