Default smokey on cold start up

hi,

I recently purchased a mazda 5 2.0 diesel sport, i noticed that on cold start up there's a bit of white smoke coming from the exhaust for about a half mile or so up the road and then it clears. It doesn't happen when it's warm and it doesn't seem to use any oil either.
Is normal?

thanks

White would be unburned diesel, that is "normal" for a cold start if you have a bad glow plugs, my old F250 used to run on about 5-6 out of 8 cylinders when cold due to bad GPs till I replaced them. Can you feel it missing at all?

The car drives fine and doesn't miss at all, the only thing is she's due the big 75k service which includes injector seals and some other seals to do with fuel system. They also check and adjust valve clearance.
I'm new to owning a Mazda and was a bit worried it could be something more serious.

Thanks.

Have them also test the GPs to see if any are bad, I am going to guess 75k service is in km and not miles right?

Unburnt diesel wouldn't be white smoke?

Sure it is not steam from just condensation in the exhaust system?

Check you coolant level.

Unburnt diesel on a cold cylinder is white, hot cylinder is black smoke.
