Default Road noice - tires

Has anyone tried the 5 with quality tires (Continental, Michelin etc)?

I'm still with the lousy Toyo-set I got with the car and suspect that they are responsible for much of the road noice. In winter, wearing my Continental winter tires, the road noice dropped much more than in my previous cars, where I had "serious" tires even in the summer.

So: Anyone with experience?

As soon as I wear out my first set of tyres (which ought to be quite a while as I don't have 17" wheels), I will be fitting Conti Eco Contacts.

Every car I have driven with them fittedwas significantly quieter. Having said that the Conti Website "tyre selector" doesn't list the Mazda 5.

I've never had a noisy michelin. I just never buy them because of price... They've come with the cars I've owned.

Not sure if your Toyo's are entirely to blame femmer because the Dunlop SP2050's on the Sport are really noisy too. I find it probably the car's most disappointing feature. My 7 year old sits in the middle row and sometimes complains "I can't hear you for the road, Daddy!"
I too look forward to hearing from someone who has solved the problem.

Probably the best thing would be to get 16" wheels and read the tire reviews at Tire Rack as they have the best resource for tire research.
