Hi,
I have a 2007 Mazda5, 5 speed. Trying to figure out the codes for "check engine" light. Innova customer service have told me my Innova scanner is not compatible with Mazda. ??????? it is a 2007???? Also noticed that on the emissions decal under the hood, there is no mention of the car being OBD2 certified. The NAPA shop people told me that my car should be OBD2 certified???? it is not. When I hooked up my scanner, yes, there is a plug, in the usual mazda place, I get the V.I.N. and 1 DTC. but nothing else.
The car still runs. I am guessing that is is an oxygen sensor or a fuel ratio sensor. So how do I go about figuring out the problem, finding a solution?

Time to find another scan tool.

Ruling out a problem with the diagnostic connector in your car.....Your scanner should work on your car. Try to use your scanner on another car.
But as another member said you may need to warranty it or get a new one.

Thank-You
I am looking at an Autel.
Does Mazda use only generic codes or do they have some of their own codes as well?
The lower cost scanners only recognize generic codes.

Which Autel model you bought? I am also thinking to buy an Autel scanner. I am not finding cheap scanner from this brand! I just saw this autel scanner list https://obd2scanners.org/autel/ and most of these scanners price isn't affordable. It looks like Autel create scanner only for professionals. Find only one scan tool which price less than 100 bucks.

Mazda uses a wider range of codes than alot of cheap scanners will read/recognize. And also the description by some scanners of codes read & associated circuits can be a bit confusing or misleading.
