New Mazda 5 Owner
I'm a one-time mechanic, now satellite engineer. I work on my own cars when I can.
Just swapped my Saab wagon for a Mazda 5. My Saab was loaded... with a bunch of Bosch electronics that were causing me grief. I loved the car, but don't have that kind of time to spend in my garage, nor the money just to keep the car to spec.
I just got the Mazda 5 on Feb 9th. Mine is the 5-speed Sport in Stellar Green-Silver. I have the POPULAR EQUIPMENT PACKAGE with IN-DASH 6-DISC CD CHANGER, SIDE SILL EXTENSIONS and REAR LIFTGATE SPOILER.
I've already traded in my second set of Saab wheels for a nice set of used American Race wheels at the local Wheel and Tire shop. They put my brand new 225/45-17 Yokohama tires on the wheels. It looks sharp and rides like it's on rails. The speedo is more accurate than with the stock 205/50-17's that I will use for fair-weather driving. I checked it out with my after-market GPS AutoPilot 330 that I have also added. One more little item... I put in a REAL horn. What was that about? :-)
I've taken the liberty of removing any hint of the dealership advert crap (incl. those sticky plates on the rear door), and added some Mazda license plate frames. I'll add a tape player when I get it in. I need it for my audio books that just happen to be on tape.
I hope I can help out with any maintenance issues here, as well. I am also looking for any performance-enhancing mods I can do. I wish this little sucker had a turbo!
