This is very good info on the sway bar bushings. Our 2008 M5 started making the famous "clunking" sound over the summer, and now the cold weaher just makes it sound like the left rear wheel is about to fly off. This is especially well pronounced on left sweeping turns as the loading on the left suspension begins to change while passing over any type of rough road surface. Thanks again.

The main clunk issue in the 5's is the rear sway bar bushings and the coil spring towers in the rear. They made the weld too large in the rear towers so they end up rubbing in the coil springs also causing a clunk to be heard over bumps.
