Hi,
Mazda 5 2008 automatic transmission , in the morning for the first 10 minutes , if its in D , it will idle like its in neutral , wont move forward (though it will move in reverse) after warm up , it will drive good with no problems , the fluid level is OK .
any thought?

Unfortunately it may be that a varnish has been collecting on the servos. Without dropping the pan and inspecting the valve body area(wiping it with a clean white dust free rag) or by having a service shop that specializes in automatic transmission that can use the transmission service machine to measure the line pressures it is hard to say. If the transmission pan and fluid and filter was not serviced a couple time before 100K then you may need to consider a complete fluid service at a shop I mentioned earlier.
I do not recommend any use of transmission fix-it-in bottle remedies they will likely cause more problems?

yea , took the pan down , the fluid was black , wow , and also the filter was so clogged , im shocked this thing was even driving,...
Ok so all may not be lost. Clean everything the best you can. You can use carburetor cleaning sraying only the lower portion of the valve body. Let it completely dry and wipe with cloth using clean ATF fluid. Reinstall the new filter and cleaned pan. Fill with the new fluid. warm the engine and drive for about 15-30 minutes. Then draining the pan only and refill with new fluid. This may clean it enough to help reduce the servo sticking but you may want to repeat a pan only fluid change at about 3000 miles. Naturally the best thing would be to have a sample analyzed to see exactly what is in the oil and you can judge/determine if the transmission is still savable or on its way out.
USE THIS INFORMATION AT YOUR OWN RISK. READ CAREFULLY WHAT I POST. Duplication if you choose to perform the below service at your own risk of damaging your transmission!! While I would only do this with my transmission or close friends, and I don't suggest nor recommend anyone to duplicate my experience with this procedure I have had very good results using seafoam oil/gas treatment directly in transmissions sever hundred miles before changing the pan fluid & filter. I was approached by Seafoam to try it out and did on a dying transmission with over 300k miles and was surprised how well it worked to clean it up. It did not save the transmission form failing but I am pretty sure it prolonged it slightly.Thats a guess! After using the method posted in this response first the transmission clearly shifted better then with only a normal pan fluid filter service. While I can not prove through any scientific method of testing and concluding for some confirmation collected DATA or empirical information to support the testing. As they say results were seat of the pants butt dyno feel and how the transmission shifted . LOL. . Nevertheless, I have used it now in my 2018 Mazda now regularly and have not seen any negative results in the several oil analyses I have had analyzed. This again and I want to repeat not a recommendation.
ANYONE CAN CONTACT SEAFOEM DIRCT (BY PHONE TALK TO A REAL HUMAN) and they will tell you that Seafoam is safe for use in Mazda transmission even the Skyactiv power-plant supported automatic transmissions.
