2006 Mazda 5
I received just one key that will start the engine when I got the car with the remote section missing.
Purchased 2 new remotes, but cannot get the car into programming mode with the 3x ignition on/off + 3 open/close door sequence. Nothing happens.
The service manual describes a 4x on/off sequence + 3 open/close that does toggle the locks upon completion, but pressing buttons on the new remotes does nothing.
Any experience or suggestions?
are you trying the sequence with the new or the old keys?
I just did this procedure on my 2008 Mazda5 and it worked without any problems. But slightly different:
1. Close all doors in your car, then open the drivers door and leave it open.
2. Insert key into the ignition switch and cycle the ignition to ON and OFF three times;
Leave the key in the ignition switch.
The timing is important. You need to complete this steep within 10 seconds.
3. Close and open the drivers door three times.
When done properly the doors will automatically lock and then unlock. Now the vehicle is in programming mode.
If locks do not cycle you must start the procedure over.
4. Push the unlock button twice on the first remote to be programmed.
The door locks will cycle automatically to indicate successful programming.
If there is only one remote to be programmed to vehicle you must push any button twice again on the same remote,
wait for locks to cycle, then push any button twice one more time on the same remote
If there are two remotes to be programmed then press any button on the second remote twice, wait for locks to cycle,
then push any button twice again on the second remote. To program 3 remotes to this vehicle you must press button
twice on second remote, wait for locks to cycle, then press any button twice on the third remote.
5. Remove the key from the ignition switch to exit programming mode.
The ECU will respond a final time with a series ( about 4 ) of door locks and unlocks.
9. Test remote's.
