Default Front brake pad replacement costs

Main dealer just told me my front pads are down to 20%, and they want to replace them for £150.

Is there any reason to get brake pads done at the main dealer, rather than kwik-fit (who are half the price)? I'm wondering if the car's computer will need updating that new pads have been fitted, and if kwik-fit (or any non-main dealer could do that)?

No computer update needed. As long as the mechanic knows what they are doing it should be no problem.

You should be fine if you go to a local shop. Stealership usually charge more for the same job. I just change mine myself and it took me about an hour but I was taking my time when I did it.

Do them yourself, cost me £25 to fit a set of pagid pads to my mazda, it's only an hours work and you can make sure everything is cleaned up properly. Euro car parts is where I got mine from
