Default DVD output through speakers?

Hi there,

I bought my mazda 5 in 2005. It came with a free roof-mounted dvd player as part of a special offer. I couldn't get the sound to come out through the speakers, and was told that it was headphone only.

Today I had to extract a stuck dvd from the player, so unscrewed it ... and was surprised to find that it does have an audio cable coming out of it. And according to the manual if one presses the 'MEDIA' button one should get an option for the Rear Entertainment System ... but I don't.

Does anyone know what the deal is here - should these devices play through the speakers? Was I given incorrect information that it isn't supposed to work?

Thank you
Michael

Thanks - I tried that but sadly no sound came out.

According to Mazda it's not actually connected to the speakers, and one would need to do some sort of in-car modification.
