Exclamation DPF Problem

Hello all, and a happy new year!

So! My girlfriend´s car (2007 Mazda 5, Diesel) had a DPF light flashing in her car a while back. A search on Google and YouTube lead me to a "trick" to attach a
wire from a plug in front of the car under the hood, and pressing the acceleration pedal x-numbers of times to reset the DPF light. It actually worked!

But now, it has returned. Not blinking this time. The TCS light also comes on, along with the yellow engine light. I assume the DPF i clogged. Tried to drive it, but it barly moves, like it is in some "Emergency mode". In 1st. gear, I press
the pedal to the floor, and it sloooowly gains speed to max RPM.

I removed the DPF from underneath, tried to wash it out and dried it for a couple of days. Installed it again, but still. No progress.

Is there a way to fix this on my own? Will it help to replace the DPF with a new one? Is there a way to figure out if its the DPF who is the main problem here?

Thanks for any replies!

1st step in diagnosis is to scan for fault codes.

Without fault codes you really have no idea what's going wrong.

You will need a scan tool that can read live data, depending on the accumulation amounts & there are no hard faults, you may get away with a Forced Regen.

Thanks for the reply, Grim!

Im looking for a way to to a forced regen. But I cant find a way to do it anywhere! Tried searching this forum, but I could not find an answer. Neither did YouTube or Google. Is this some kind of "business secret" of some sort?

I got FORScan, and just ordered an USB/ODB2 cabel. But I dont recieve that for a couple of weeks.

Some upmarket scan tools can command a forced regen.
