First post. Just a week or so ago I purchased a 2012 Mazda 5. The Check Engine light came on and when I used my code reader it came up P0442.
I went to check the gas cap (apparently a common cause of this code) and found it wouldn’t open! I’m still on the tank of gas the dealer filled when I bought and haven’t opened it before. It took a bit of doing but I finally got it open and discovered some foam tubing inside the well had caught on the door causing the trouble.
On my previous 2010 Maz5 I don’t remember having tubing like this and wondered if the dealership or previous owner did this. Have you ever seen this before? Tubing inside the fuel door well.
