Mazda's reasons can come change my camber arm for me next time. The subframe was already dropped as much as it would go without unbolting stuff I didn't really want to unbolt. No way I was going to take off the exhaust unless I had no other option.

Sawzall'ed through the offending bolt and replaced it with a shorter one that still goes all the way through the nut. Camber arms = installed. I'm calling this one good and repressing all memories of this occasion.

The takeaway is that anyone attempting in this in the future needs to have a plan when they get to this bolt. It's not fun.

You're absolutely right. It's not fun at all. But the reward is a better camber angle and tires that don't burn up in <20k miles.

Have a professional do it for you if you must, but do it! From a practical standpoint, it's the best thing I have done to mine to date... and not that expensive when you consider the additional tire life.
