Default white black smoke mazda 5 2.0 td 2006 HELP

hi all new member and new driver of a mazda 5. so i bought car today taken it for a test drive seemed good. so i came home and sat idling whilst i was looking inside the car and noticed white smoke coming out the tailpipe with a funny smell. then went out and came back and black smoke coming out then both colours would mix. the car revs when idling try to drop but then goes back up. its cut out once when sat at traffic lights. i need to know if this is an easy fix or if its on its way out as i need to take it back if so thanks for any advice

Update problem back smoking like a good one but it seems like when the the cars on a hill facing up or down it smokes but on level ground its fine. so I've checked dip stick and its just over full mark but for some reason who ever had the car before has scratched inbetweeners the F and L with a line and F so maybe too much oil is in it now. also to add to it I've found that the break fluid is empty in the first container. the last owner didn't look after this car for sure.

Petrol or diesel engine?

Is it smoking when the engine is cold? or hot?

I've just changed oil and filter and the old oil was black and over the full mark so am hoping thats the cause.

another update:
just changed the pipe and diesel filter so now hopefully its sorted. since putting new oil in at the propper level Therese been no smoke so maybe that was the problem so if anyone's having a WHITE SMOKE OUT THE EXHAUST problem check your oil level first.
pics of the pipe and part number if anyone needs it cheers.
