I am going to search out local mazda5s now they are in my price range (I hope). I live in an expensive area of the country (rent = W.DC, LA, SanFran, Huston, NYC) but being rural I may luck out on these - an inexpensive vehicle. I hada few Qs as I am not 'set' on it yet (like the '83/6 LTD/Marquis waggy as much - could pep it up a good deal. This I will not ! ). I havea lill wrenchin ability'n tools, no garage. I'm most interested ina AWD & auto transmission:

1 what is the most reliable year(s); is this a 250K car (like honda/toy)?
2 when is AWD / auto available (after '10 only?)? Is it durable;
3 anything to B aware/warry of w/these B4/after purchase (usual rust spots, lousy heaters, never get 'gt' modle or 2.0 motor, replace HG every 50K mi)...

a mechanic buddy had one on the lot for a very long time w/an ele issue - I think the main puter or its interface w/a timing sensor, something like that, not sure if it was the customer getting the PCM offa da net, just what wuz goin on. He wuz not very happy wrkin on the car tho. Finally farmed it out to an auto ele expert (meaning lost $ on his wrk) he uses all the time and that guy 'shipped it' too...
