2010 Mazda 5, hard shifts from 1st to 2nd
Hi All, new to this forum... my wife's car is a 2010 Mazda 5 with 130K miles. She's started having an issue with the shifting recently, the car will rev up high in 1st gear, then when she backs off the throttle it eventually shifts really hard into 2nd. No issues shifting through the rest of the gears. I tried it out, and it also does the same thing when you shift the transmission in manual mode. Today when I got it home it leaked coolant as soon as I left it parked, although I'm assuming that's not connected to this problem?
I'm planning on changing out the transmission shift solenoids and putting new fluid in, the fluid level is full but kinda dark. Question is, does this sound like the right approach for my problem?
Also, I've read that the transmission pan bolts need to be torqued, what is the torque rating for them?
Thanks, in advance, for any help/guidance!

If im driving conservatively ( which is hardly ever) i shift at around 3-4k and at 6.5 when driving spiritedly. 1st to 2nd is the most difficult shift to get smooth. Just takes practice. Practice different foot angles of depressing the clutch and stuff like that.

i posted another thread my wifes cx7.. have you changed out the solenoids yet? i was planning on doing it myself but after discussing with several mechanic as i work at an auto store they tgold me if it was a solenoid problem the computer would throw a code so i was discouraged of replacing them right after i did a fluid flush and filter change, please let me know what the results are. my original post was https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/maz...90/#post189563
