Default 1st oil change

He everyone, I just purchased a 09 Mazda5, any suggestions when the first oil change should be, and how difficult is it to do yourself. I see the manual suggests 7500 miles, although in the past I would make the initial change a lot sooner, is there a special "breaking in" additive added in the oil from the factory? Some people claim ther is and some claim ther is not? This answer may take someone with some inside knowledge? Thank You

Breakin oil is generally a straight weight oil. Like 30 weight. Depending on the type of rings they use breakin can be up to 5k miles but i would change the oil every 3k unless it's all highway miles and stick with the oil grade they recommend as that is decided by bearing and piston to cylinder wall clearance.

WHen I picked up my new 5 they said that the first service would be at 5000 miles and they would change the oil then.

There's no need to replace the oil any sooner than is recommended. The 1st service on the UK cars is 12500 miles with some makes, Vauxhall for example having their 1st oil change at 20000 miles. Don't waist your money.
