Default 07' mazda 5 error code

first post on this forum. please forgive any ignorance in terminology. anyway, here's my code error. no check engine light. but the light that looks like a person sitting with an air bag that's right under the mph keeps flashing 2 long, 5 short, pause, then it repeats over and over again. i've been scouring the forums for a while and can't seem to track down any similar problems. any help would be appreciated. thanx

Don't scour forums like that....
I typed "Airbag light flashing" into a google search and found lots of hits. You don't have to be make and model specific for something like this.

It means you airbags are not ready.

Could it be that you have something heavy sitting on the passenger seat? The airbag light near the glove box often comes on when ever I strap in a 6 pack of beer in the passenger seat.

Don't give me that look. I want my sixer of IPA to arrive home safely.

You have a big problem with the 6 pack strapped on the seat. It is not heavy enough to trigger the airbags, so in a crash your beer may be in trouble. Try buying a few flats, about 40lbs worth, then the airbags will work and your beer will be nice and safe.

Also be sure to remember to turn off your heated seats if you have them, or you will not be happy when you crack one when you get home.
