Well, it seems the bolt pattern is correct and if you have a i model 3 series the size (15"/16") should work also, but I can not find out what the OE offset of the 929 wheels should be.
All 3 series have a +52.5mm offset, so you can go by that standard. Personally, I would try to stay as close to a +50 (+/-) as possible, but I know there are those that run up to +42"s. I would not recommend going that extreme though. Fender lip rubbing, bad/unpredictable handling, suspension component wear and braking could be the result.

I have a 2008 1/2 Mazda 3 sport GT. Is this an i model?
Sorry for my ignorance. I am new to Mazda's from Saabs.

The reason I want steel wheels is for winter tires. I know I have 17 inch wheels now, but it is more advisable for winters to use 16's.

No Tim.The i model is the base 2.0L sedan and comes w/smaller brake rotors and 15" wheels std.
The smallest you can go w/the 2.3L set-up is 16"s.Still some 16"s, especially steelies, may cause brake clearance issues so test fit them before you buy.Or at least have the option to return them should they cause trouble.
And again, be careful of that offset. It"s a critical point for any car/wheel swap, not just Mazdas.

I know the 16"s are available as an option or as part of (I think it"s called) the power option, or VEpackage for the 3i"s. But the 15" wheels will fit the std base model and all those w/the 2.0L enginebecause of the smaller brakes.

The only package I added was the side airbags/ABS. The 16-in wheel came standard........I think Mazda changes things around as time goes on to stimulate interest. 15in rim would definitely fit. The wheel well accommodate anything from 15 to 18 i think.

Anyway, unrelated issue, rear cam bolt, i knew you have tinkered (sorry, experimented) with it. I'd like to do that as well to correct tire wear. Could you shed some more light on how much you did it, and how. PM me if you'd prefer. Thanks.

On the topic of wheels, i have a 2004 mazda 6i and are looking at purchasing used winter tires. My only concern is the Rim specs. I've looked high and low, called the dealer, and am at a loss for the exact rim dimensions. I need to match them up to a 5*110 but and wondering if this is compatible. Any help is greatly appreciated.

PM sent.
I just checked the Mazda USA site and even now the 3i Sport comes std w/15" steel wheels and covers, while the 3i Touring Value comes w/17" alloys?
The only listing for 16"s is the 3s Sport.
Have a look for yourself?
