What's this noise?
So I have a '04 2.3L Hatchback which I bought used with 46k miles on it.
Within 2 weeks of driving the car I started hearing noises from the hood when driving at low speeds (in parking lots, etc) when I went to turn the steering wheel. I took it back to the dealership and since it was still under warrenty they replaced the front strut mount...which fixed the problem.
It's been 3 weeks and I am starting to hear a different noise coming from the front. This time it has nothing to do with steering, but the noise seems to come at low speeds and almost sounds like a sqeaking noise. It seems to be more prominent when going over small bumps or even on a smooth surface. And the noise doesn't get louder when I go over larger bumps. I'm almost positive its not my shocks which would sound more 'springy'. The noise I am experiencing almost sounds more like...when you sit down on a leather couch and you can hear the leather on leather (sorry, its hard to describe). The noise repeats somewhat rapidly, as if you had the two leather pieces in your hand and were rubbing them constantly.
Any ideas what this noise could be? Could this be related to the replaced strut mount?
Thanks.
