Default Water leak in boot Mazda3 2008 hatchback

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum and just picked up a 2008 mazda 3 TS2 for my son to start driving in.
It seems to have a leak somewhere in the boot, is there a particular weak point on these? Rear light seals or main boot seal?

Thanks

Neil

Tail light seals are a common source.

Best option is to completely strip out the boot side panels, stick your son inside with a torch and you completely hose down the car from top to bottom.

I just bought a 2014 Mazda3 hatch and am having the same issue. The water seems to pool in the spare tire well and I have no idea where it's coming from. I did notice after I first washed it, water coming out of the lock mechanism on the bottom of the hatch gate. The strange thing is, none of the surrounding areas are wet. The carpet, plastics, etc. are completely dry. I haven't had a chance to really look for the source.

Good shout, I'll give it a go. I also saw a good video on YouTube about replacing the light seals with foam so may try that also.
