"Water-based, solvent free plastic" undercoat
getting 2026 Mazda 3 HB, and the Dealer is pitching:
"Total Coat Undercoating: (HD) is a water-based, solvent-free plastic coating designed specifically designed for automotive corrosion protection, rustproofing, and noise reduction"
I can find the product (Amazon), but find no info online about it, or even "water-based" undercoating, or reviews.
Is this some variation of oil-based ? fluid based ?
Anyone know this process ? I live in New England.
Thanks

The Total Coat Undercoating you're being offered is a water-based product designed for rust protection and noise reduction. Unlike traditional oil-based or fluid film undercoatings, which can be thicker and more viscous, water-based options are generally https://tropical-casino.com/ easier to apply and clean up. However, they might not provide the same level of long-term protection as oil-based products, especially in harsh climates like New England, where road salt and moisture can accelerate corrosion.

Because my experience level regarding the question is from working in the service and other specialty automotive service in the USA only for several decades .
So that stayed this response is for USA owners of vehicles only . Maybe include Canada ?
If your dealer is offering it then find out about the extra warranty coverage you will get.
The water based undercoating if applied correctly will work protecting the under carriage without the less desirable issues using oil based undercoating on a Dailey driven family vehicle.
The noise reduction using either is negligible at best and the product was technically not formulated to do that only a secondary benefit .
Because we are close to the sierra mountains customers always inquire about this same question. So we work with 2 auto body shops that professionally apply the under carriage protect and both use water based undercoating. One shop is in CA and the other Nev.
I would consider when making you choice how long you will own the vehicle . If more then 5 years or close or over 100 k miles then I strongly advise the water based undercoating. Most all service shop if they see oil based undercoating these day will charge a slightly higher service estimate on anything that the oil base undercoat has been applied to or over sprayed on.
