Default Trade?

I have a 2007 hatchback, manual, but am looking to trade it for an automatic. Any idea what the best way to go about this would be?

Thx!

You actually want an automatic?

Well Dale, some people do. If I lived in NYC or LA for example, I might want an auto just because driving a stick in traffic like that would be a major PITA.

Jackie, my best suggestion is to find someone, maybe advertise for soemone with the same car only an auto that wants to trade up.
I used to know plenty of local young guys around here that bought an auto, then later really wished they had gotten the 5-sp. I wouldn't be too surprised if you got some good hits from an ad like that.
And with modern cars as they are, trying to convert is just not worth all the trouble, so I think you are going about it the right way.
Good luck to you.

Thanks for the helpful advice! We got a manual against my wishes and now that the husband drives in stop and go traffic all day he has agreed to an automatic. What's the best place to place an ad and look for ads these days?

The first place that comes to my mind is Craigslist. It doesn't cost anything and is available to others that are local to you, just be aware of SCAMMERs. There are a number of good advice pages on that site that can help you avoid them.

You may have to do some research, but there are a number of sites where you can sell your car to others who are looking, or in your case, trade it. Cardomain.com, Edmunds.com, AutoTrader.com, etc. But I am not sure what they might charge for the service?
This and other Mazda Forums might be a good place, but be aware that all forums that I know of have rules that must be followed, including this site, so be sure to look for them before posting your ad. We don't charge anything either, and as long as the rules are followed your ad will stay up for 1 yr, if necessary.
Here is the link to our rules here:

We are a smaller forum and don't get the traffic that some bigger sites do though.
