Default torn between two 3's ...need help

Hi, new member here. I am in upstate ny and have found a 2010 sedan 2.0 5 speed silver. very clean, cloth, interior spotless, 56k. this car has spent its life in ny. out the door would be 7700. there is some corrosion but not too much. i think this was getting annual undercoating with krown or carwell, especially considering how bad mazdas are known to rust.

I also found a 2013 2.0 hatch 6 speed. same thing very, clean, 43k. This car is down south so no salt and presumably zero corrosion. out the door would be 10k even. I would have to fly to go get it and then drive it back on an 18 hour trip.

I am looking to buy to save money on fuel as I currently own a 3/4 ton pickup. my driving is going to increase in the future as well. I have a 4 year old daughter and want to be able to take her places and pack her stuff in there. I am torn as to which vehicle to get. Money is tight right now as well. the big hangup for me is hatch vs sedan and the corrosion issue. being in ny, i've had to battle it forever.

so i'm looking for guidance. i know the hatch would be better for taller gear, but the sedan's trunk is quite big. seats fold down on the sedan of course. I could always take bigger stuff in my truck if need be. are the skyactiv 2.0 as bulletproof as the older 2.0 or is the jury still out? what say you? thanks

I'd go for the newer/less corroded car; the extra money and travel time will result in you being able to keep the car for a much longer time.
