I burned my OE GY's up (205/50-17's rated @240) @ 19,600 (miles) and the Falkens that replaced them (215/50-17's rated 360) at about the same. I working on my 3rd set, Kumho ASX (225/45-17 rated 420!!) and after roughly 12k miles they are about half shot too!!! And I don't even autoX any more??? At $400-$800 a set every 20k miles, wear is certainly a factor for me!! But so is overall performance, and so far I am not overly impressed with any of these tires. |
Oooo! Oooo! New tires and wheels!!! What are you getting, Ken?? Give, Baby, give!! |
These are the Rims

S.E. That's about all you will get, 50 k. I still have some tread. I am just over 50k now. Getting too close to the wear bars for my liking. After my 5000 k trip to Flordia. I started noticing some unusual tire noise. Sounds like a small prop airplane engine when I go over a hundred kms. Could of been the constant 70 mile an hour drive for 24 hours as well. Still can not decide on what tires to buy. I have been all over the rack for hours now.

Sorry S E. Should have waited for the rest of the threads. Your not talking Toyo's.

With a harder compound I would give up some of the handling so I probably won't go over a 400-420 just for that fact.
My Firestone's on my old Explorer were a 500 on the tread wear and they went 59,000 miles and looked good, only problem was the sidewalls were dry rotting, and it was only a little over 2 years old. So I will try and find a tire that can go 50K or 2 years and be happy with them. |
Ah! I have seen these before. Aren't these the wheels you have on the F150? You mentioned once that you wanted a set for the 3... though it was the PPM 3 back then. |
I am going to go to Goodyear tomorrow. Want to see their new assurance fuel max tires.
I am more for fuel economy than anything else. I do like corning, so I will have to keep that in mind as well. As for speed. Not so much. Took a long time for me to get my insurance back down to "this" planet. |
Close, but then again they are not either
http://fordtruckworld.tenmagazines.c...ess/776122.jpg They are the same wheels I wanted for the PPM. I hate rivets and about 3/4's of the wheels out there that will fit the 3. I do like the Rota's but didn't like the price. I have had the ADR wheels on the F150 for almost 6 years with no issues so I went with a brand I know and trust. |
I have the factory Toyo Proxes tires on my car, over 27,000 miles of use on 'em so far, and still have tons of tread.
Am I just the lucky one of the bunch or something? *knocking on wood* |
