A/T Light/Tranny Problem

A/T Light/Tranny Problem
So about a month ago, the A/T Light started popping up. It doesn't come on every time I drive so its not a steady light. I haven't noticed anything that would trigger the light either, it just shows up whenever it wants.
I took it to a shop and the ran a test on it and the guy said it wasnt letting him go in depth but its a transmission problem I have. That didnt help much though.
My friend was driving it to the supermarket the other day to pick up some snacks and she said that when she stopped to make a right turn at a stop sign, the car turned off. She said that before it turned off, all the dashboard lights when bursurk and then it shut off.
One more thing, when i start up my car and the A/T light pops up with away, if i put it in reverse, it jumps really hard. If the A/T light isnt on at the time of startup, it goes into reverse just fine.. Little weird but I've tried adding more tranny fluid and getting a test, hoping to find on here what my next step is. Hopefully someone knows whats going on here. Thanks for reading
