Mike,

Sorry to hear about your continuing problems. Perhaps the guys in Hiroshima had too much saki the night before. Good luck, if you decide to pursue the litigation.

I think he's wishing there were only 500 destined for US shores, not 5,000. Pretty hard to justify when I can go down to my local dealer and pick one up at retail.

I did a search on Yahoo for used S3s, and found several. Mostly in the northeast. Mileage varied greatly. I think the highest mileage one I found was 6k, and they were still asking 21,900.

Well, add my name to the list of MS3 owners. I signed the papers today on a Silver SPEED 3 GT that is waiting to be unloaded at the port of Tacoma. I did opt for the extended warranty for piece of mind. My wife and I hope to get the car later this week, or this weekend at the latest. We are driving a 2005 Mazda 5-door as a loaner from the dealer.

Now I have a car with zoom zoom and a 4Runner with a 200:1 crawl ratio. I guess opposites attract?

I got the extended warranty as well, and then I re-financed my car and found out that the credit union has the same extended warranty for more than half the price. (it's not Mazda Warranty but covers bumper to bumper and I can got to virtually ANY mechanic and not just a dealership).

Glad to ehar there is another MS3 out there!!! :yay:

It's a real bummer to hear about Mike's problematic MS3. Even worse, it's not much consolation to tell him mine has been almost perfect for what is approaching 11,000 miles. 26 MPG all around, mosty Interstate highway driving. I hoped for 28MPG, but I don't think I'll see that.

On another note, does anyone remember my "Stupid dipstick" post from a few weeks ago? I finally got an email from a guy who said he noticed the same problem. If the car has been sitting, the dipstick usually has only a little drop of oil on the end, which says to me its WAY low. But if I wipe it and dip for another reading it says overfull every damn time. WTF? I've never had one do this.
Your helpful hints will be greatly appreciated. BTW, my driveway is slightly inclined, but I get the same problem on perfeclty level surfaces.
