RE: a sound from new 2006 Mazda 3
hey, welcome.
will the engine still start when it makes that scratch sound, or will you have to try to fire it up again?
ive been having a sporadic start up problem. the engine makes kind of that 'heavy metal scratch sound' when trying to startup, but the engine wont powerup. babyhuey told me it could possibly be the starter...so im calling mazda tomorrow to have them check that out.

Not me, but it could be Solenoid on your Starter or the starter itself, if not, than might be distributor or distributor cap but i dout about it, solenoid or starter, best solution for you to take it to a dealer and let them fix it, it is a problem already, mine doesn't have it, runs so quiet i can barelly hear my engine running, installed K&N filter, engine sound became a little louder but no problem with me, still quiet on the highway.

no car should make that sound, couldnt tell you where its coming from or how to fix it, but yeah if you just bought the car the dealership should and have better fix it free of charge.

no dont not take there word for it, thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard, but if your dealer is gonna be a retard about it, id ask around for help from a place like Autozone or something, they might try to rip you off or something, uh.....try the mazda website and send a complaint or something.

i did bring it back to the dealer. they said it's normal and that is how most of mazda are. Should I take their words for it? What else can I do?
