I can't find any repair manuals (Chilton's, Haynes, Clymer(sp?)) anywhere that cover the 2013 Mazda 3. What's the deal? Is this secret so Mazda can force people to use their repair services for basic repairs? I've always done my own basic maintenance and left the more complicated repairs to the dealership or repair shop. - Neanderthal

 

2013 being the last of the 2nd gen BL chassis or the third gen BM?

 

I wondered if there were two versions of the 2013 Mazda 3. I've seen some inconsistent differences in some YouTube videos. For example, the rear brakes video I watched first referenced 2013 through 2016 Mazda 3s and didn't really match my brakes. Then a 2006 through 2013 rear brakes video did match. Then I went to an auto salvage yard to get an electrical connector from a 2013 Mazda 3 and the inside of the console wasn't wired the same as my 2013 Mazda 3. I thought the difference may have been due to the fact that mine has a standard transmission and the one in the salvage yard was an automatic. Now your question is the third clue. I have only had this car for a year and I haven't had to do any maintenance until now. So, I take it there are both an early 2013 and a late 2013 version of the Mazda 3? SHould I look for a manual for a 2011 or 2012 Mazda 3?

 

If you car looks identical to a 2012 model, then you have a facelift BL Mazda 3. The facelift was released mid to late 2011.
