Default no bass?

Just got the i Touring Value 4dr Sedan (2.0L 4cyl 5M) with 1MC (Moonroof and 6-Disc) yesterday. I'm going to head to the dealer with this problem, but I thought I'd post it here to see if anyone had anything useful to add.

The bass will come and go, sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes for several minutes. I've listened to FM, CD, and MP3, and it's the same all around. I threw the balance to the rear and really noticed it, and then to the front and couldn't tell. But since I know nothing about the audio system at this point, I'm assuming that the front speakers just don't have decent woofers. I've turned the bass all the way up, and it has no effect. I've thrown the balance back and forth with no effect.

Any guesses?

By the way, aside from the bass issue, I have to say that the car absolutely rocks. I've had it all of 24hrs, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Good stuff.

My factory unit puts out a very decent amount of bass. Tastes vary of course, I never have to turn my bass up above +2 for my ears. If the bass comes and goes, particularly if it is within one song which you know has a nice bass line in it, then it sounds like something might be awry.

I have the regular single disc CD unit, not sure if the controls are different with the 6 CD changer.

I don't have the VIN handy, but that's exactly the problem. Thanks, everyone. I like being able to pull into the dealership already knowing what they're supposed to do.
