My impending headlight mods
OUCH!! I would hate to do that mod once let alone have to perform it twice w/in a month!!
That's why I went with the LED eyebrows instead. Love the look. Hate the procedure... and you're not the only person I have known that had a bad ring right out of the box either.
Sorry, Remi. That SUCKS!!!
BTW: Hope you used clear silicone instead of the double-sided tape that comes with the kit, or you'll be doing it again in about 2yrs due to browning..

Well after that one time of getting the driver's low beam halo to work it never really came on again, though it did flicker with gusto a few times. I double checked it with both ballasts and still nothing, so it looks like I had a dud. Pulled the light apart and removed the ring today and just shipped it off for replacement.

As of now I can pull the bumper, change out the bulbs and put it all together in about 35 minutes
So semi-update. My replacement halo came in last week. I haven't had a chance to put it in yet since we went out of town for the weekend and then I was working all week when we got home. Now that I'm in my off week I don't have anyone available to help me out.
Oh well, it'll get done sooner or later.
I still haven't taken pictures of the projector cutoff yet. I went out to do them one night but then got side tracked by reaiming the projectors for the picture. Then in the process I aimed the driver's side projector too far in and it popped the silver ring and reflector loose. <sigh> I fixed those when I pulled the dead halo.
I'm still very happy with the install so far. The lights are way better than the halogens were, and the color and cutoff look great. Now if only I'd thought about it when I had the lights off I would have disconnected the passenger side low beam halo so that the highbeam ones would at least be symmetrical.

Can't wait to see the updated pictures, Remi.
I finally got my HID kits installed too, but have yet to take and post pictures. https://www.mazdaforum.com/forum/sho...7755#post97755

I'd love to but y'know what? I ain't gonna happen.
I have had these HID kits for nearly a year and finally got them installed. It took me (by myself of course) 4-1/2 hrs, mostly figuring out where the ballasts and wiring would go. Plus the PITA of having to remove the front bumper cover (2 lower splash shields, inner fender splash shields, etc.)
Add to that, I have many other pieces in my shop waiting for the right parts to complete the set-up (e.g. cross-drilled rotors for the EBC pads I already own,) time, weather or personal energy and drive already!! I'll be lucky if I can get those done before this car reaches it's 10th b'day.

But I know your intention is a good one, Remi, and I thank you for that.
BTW, and for the folks @ home: Where are those lenses available?
^^ I hear you Richard.
The clear lenses are from www.theretrofitsource.com. They're a direct swap with the Mz3 lenses and come with a spacer ring to give the cutoff a little color if you like. I had mine in two days after ordering them.

About a month ago i took my bumper off and the whole headlamp unit out. I was trying to get the projector out but had no luck. Do you have to bake the headlight unit to remove the projectors? I would like to swap mine for the clearcoated and spaced projectors. I'm running 4300K HID's in my projectors and would like to eliminate some glare.
