I've got a 2007 Mazda 3 Sport and I've had 2 incidents recently when starting the vehicle.

Specifically, when I start the vehicle the dash lights activate when the key is turned however when you continue to turn the key to start the engine - NOTHING HAPPENS. No engine turnover, no noise, no clicking, NO NOTHING.

The only thing that seems to work to get it to work is to remove the key from the ignition switch completely, and press the lock and unlock door buttons repeatedly and then attempt to start the vehicle.

Has anyone had such a weird experience such as this before?

suggestions on a root cause of the issue?

 

sounds like your anti theft module is acting up causing a no start. At first i was going to say your starter was bad.

 

it turned out to be the Starter Linkage and the Starter Sensor...total repair cost was approx. $100.

Whew! It could have been much worse.
