Mazda 3 with coilovers, tire size help!!!
So I have an '06 mazda 3 hatch and I'm buying a tire and wheel package. The wheels are 17x7.5 enkei ys5 with 40 offset and I want to keep my 205/50 tire size. My dillemma is that my struts are starting to go bad and I've been thinking about lowering my car for some time now, and this spring/summer I'm planning on putting racelands or some other suspension set up that will lower the car about an inch or maybe slightly lower. I have 205/50's on a 17x7 with 40 offset right now with plenty of clearance, and I like having the high profile tire just for peace of mind that it is easier on wheels and ride quality, however I don't want to risk rubbing my brand new tires on the wheel wells and would rather go with a lower profile tire instead if they are going to rub. So my question is, if I lower my car about 1" to 1.2" all around would 205/50 tires rub on the wheel wells? Or should I go with 205/45's? I see many people who make wheel upgrades to their 3's either go 40 or 45 tires so it makes me wonder. Any help or suggestions are much appreciated!!
