Got a 2017 Mazda 3 2.2 diesel. It was fine for the first year but then started jerking and running hesitantly at low speeds of around 30-40 MPH. Mechanic said it was probably in need of a new battery. That did not work, so much so, it now does it at speeds of 10-15 MPH, jerking, bouncing and acting like there's a fuel blockage. Any ideas?

Sorry you don't what country you are in, so this applies to USA specifically members. You need to find a service shop that has an actual and current certified Auto Diagnostic Technician preferably with a L2 diesel certification.

Not sure why the conclusion was to change the battery for a cure??????

 

Tad confused as to how long this has been going on for you mention It was fine for the first year.
Have you had it scanned for fault codes? If not do that then post back the results.
