Hi,

Has anyone experienced this? The inner film of my 2014 Mazda3 iTouring's Infotainment touch screen shows signs of its adhesive becoming lose, because it shows the bottom-right corner as some "spider web" white lines, somewhat making you think it's broken, but it's not. All of this started probably because of the A/C being turned on on a much lower temperature, and maybe due to some weird trajectory of the air flow inside the cabin, and which created some condensation water which formed between that inner transparent film and the actual glass/plastic cover?

The condensation is apparently gone now, but the "spider web" remained permanently.
It is super annoying, and I can no longer see very well about 1 button/icon worth of size exactly in the very bottom-right corner of the screen.

Any idea on how to fix this?
Maybe I can get a picture of how it looks, tomorrow.

Could it be that the plastic sheeting is a protective covering for the glass screen on a new vehicle.
Like on mobiles phones.
If the main screen is glass perhaps if you remove the plastic covering the problem will go away and you will have a clear screen.

 

No, the car wasn't bought new - it is a 2014 Mazda3 iTouring. Bought in 2018 and the infotaiment system was in excellent / like-new condition.
It seems to be some transparent layer mounted inside, under the outer glass/plastic cover of the display. Probably the film acting as capacitive sensor for the touch screen, not sure.

Here is a picture of what it looks like:



It's super-intrusive, and giving the appearance of broken screen, but it's all on the inside.
Maybe there is an easy way to open the outer cover, and that inner film does not need adhesive but just taking it out completely and then re-positioning it (for air pockets to release)?

Its a known problem. Mazda sells a lens kit. ( much cheaper than complete unit)

 

Interesting. Would you happen to know of a couple of other posts on this forum, relating to the same issue?
And what does this "Mazda lens kit" look like? Would you be able to point me to some info on such product, and possibly online stores selling it?

OMG, according to another Mazda web forum and user's post, it looks like it's a real micro-cracks on the inside glass of the screen which I've just experienced!?? Not just peeling or pockets of air forming. But micro-cracks caused by sudden (and significant!?) temperature swigs in the cabin, and which may cause the Infotainment system's screen glass to expand/contract and cracking?

It would seem to me that the most sensible thing to do is to replaces the screen as a unit.
This should be available as a spare from Mazda.

 

There is nothing wrong with the unit, as a whole. Nor with the LCD screen itself.
It is only the outer screen aka the Digitizer (resistive-based touch screen), folks! Even that one might not have got micro-cracked, but just the de-laminating / adhesive becoming lose.

In order to avoid fiddling with adhesive removal and re-application affairs, I've decided to replace the digitizer.
I've just ordered a digitizer / touch screen replacement (part number BHP1611J0D) on e-bay, brand new, for $19 (sales tax included).
