Default I got an email from Mazda

I just got this email from Mazda...did any one know about this? It's freakin sweet if it's true. Am I reading this right? Did Mazda extend the warranty on all 07"s?

Mazda vehicles for the 2007 model year will have a New Vehicle Limited
Warranty of 36 months or 36,000 miles – whichever occurs first, from
the date the vehicle is first put into service. However, Mazda has
increased the Powertrain Warranty (engine and transmission) to 60 months
or 60,000 miles – whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle is
first put into service. By increasing the warranty on the engine and
transmission, this should give customers a greater piece of mind.

the bumper-to-bumper is standdard 3 year/36,000miles, the powertrain is for 5 years/60K miles. when you took delivery, the warranties booklet should state this. have you checked?

Thanks for contacting Mazda.

Please keep in mind that your warranty only covers defects in
workmanship or materials, not items related to maintenance, normal wear and
tear, or outside influences.

Mazda relies on the factory-trained technicians at authorized Mazda
dealerships to diagnose and repair any concern that may arise with a Mazda
vehicle. Each Mazda dealership has access to repair information from
the manufacturer as a tool to assist them.

Part of the dealership’s diagnosis includes determining whether or
not the failure of a component was due to a manufacturing defect. If the
dealer’s diagnosis concludes that a defect exists, and the vehicle
is within the terms of the manufacturer’s warranty of
12-months/12,000-miles, whichever occurs first, they will make necessary corrections or
repairs at no expense to the owner.

However, if the dealership finds that damage is not the result of a
manufacturing defect, they would not be in a position to cover the repairs
under this warranty.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda.

Given that I own a 2007,Ibelieve I do have bumper to bumper (excluding maintenance, or damage not due to manufacturing defect) for 3 years, 36K.

Does anyone know the story on what if anything changes after 12-months/12,000 miles?

I ask because just this past week, my trunk release quit working (the leveron the floor beside the driver seat still makes a noise, but no longer 'pops' the trunk).

You should have a 3yr/36k miles bumper-to-bumper warranty (down from 4yr/50k mile in '04/'05) on your '07. I don't know if there is an additional drive train warranty as Darth is indicatingfor the MS or not though. Mazda may be extending that because of a few problems they've had, especially w/motor mounts, in the '07 MS.
The warranty booklet in the owners manual packet should have further information about that.
