hey noobie question how much boost can the stock internals on a msp3 handel?

 

Probably quite a bit as the internals of the Mazdaspeed motor are all forged.

There is one guy I've seen running 25 psi of boost through a 2.0L (not even speed version). Not sure how long it will last though.

 

Its more the tune than the boost that will make an engine work. Ignition timing, fuel curve, and boost among other things all have to work together correctly to make power. Most of the time knock is what hurts an engine not boost. With a crappy tune you could blow an engine up at or below the stock boost levels. Just be conservative and make sure your tune is in order before you go turning up the boost.

 

Something i came onto the forums tonight just to find out:
How much boost is the stock turbo pushing?
What turbo size is it?
What is the compression of the speed 3 motor?

One thing that boost is definitely going to effect is the turbos life.
Id like to know the engine compression as well, high compression with mild boost would be most optimum for the street! and NOS can definitely be run

 

My owner's manual says the turbo runs 9.5:1 compression ratio, as opposed to 10:1 for non turbo. Just under 16 pounds of boost, stock.

 

i think max psi is the same as an srt-4 which is 22, and i think the trim is 35mm dont know heard it from some guy who thinks he knows everything about everything
