HELP! Loss of Control
Hi There!
Has anyone else encountered SERIOUS loss of control with their Mazda 3?
I have had a lot of hydroplaning issues and loss of control. Yesterday I was on the highway (with rainy conditions) and without any feeling of hydroplaning or anything I suddenly loss control of car. The DSC took control and I couldnt do anything. I entered a spin and spun 3 times. I am VERY concerned with how many issues i've had with this car. Has anyone else encountered anything like this?!

Depending upon how much water is on the road, no tire will be able to prevent hydroplaning, even at only 45 miles per hour. Unless there is a serious fault in your suspension, something like a broken link or such, there is no way for the car to cause such a spin. FWIW, just because you didn't "feel" any hydroplaning, doesn't mean you weren't driving too fast for conditions.
I have to vote tires.
I had this problem w/two of the four sets of tires I have run on my 3 series car. From my experience, don't believe sales hype and don't take what the sidewall says as Gospel truth.
I have only had one set of tires on this car I have been happy with and they are my current Conti ExtremeContact DWS series tires. The only ones that have not made me feel like I was driving on ice in the rain.
I know Dale (shipo) feels the same way about the set of Michelins' and now Yokohoma's on his 3i, but I'll bet dollars to donuts your tires are junk, even if they have lots a' tread left on them. If they are the factory tires, get rid of them!!! If they are something you bought to replace the OE's, then they aren't all they are cracked up to be.
Another thing you might look into is alignment, front AND rear.
