Default headunit

has anyone attempted to install an aftermarket headunit in a mazda 3 4 door yet? what to know how hard it is to install cause ive heard that its not easy to install cause of the set up of the dash? please help.

I don't know why people keep hearing that it's impossible to install an aftermarket HU in the 3. Yes, it is possible. You'll need to get a dash kit, such as the one made by metra, to hold the HU. You'll also need a wiring harness unless you plan on chopping up the stock wiring.

Now some problems you'll run into are what's integrated into the stock HU? Do you have the auto-climate, or the temp reading that you want to leave on the LCD? I believe some of the newer HU's the LCD is separate for these functions, but you'll need to fabricate a mount on top of your new dash kit to hold it in place. Other people have relocated the HU to the glove compartment or trunk to keep any integrated functions working.
